Spilt Milk: Rethinking Prosthetics

Material Biodesign
Bioplastic - Milk + Vinegar
06.22 - cont.

Using biodesign to tackle human health, this project centred on connnecting the high level of road traffic accidents and limited access to prosthetic limbs; within a context where high levels of milk production and waste milk are features as in the case in India.

The properties of milk were investigated, aiming to develop a protein based polymer bioplastic that could offer a high tensile strength to low-cost solution.

Currently, this ongoing project is rethinking the prosthetic stakeholder map, offering a low-cost low tech intervention through the form of prosthetics
maker space.
